Conference 2020

Global Challenges, New Horizons, Future Opportunities

Every two years, the MDC hosts a peak gathering of the global Mint industry to provide Mint directors, suppliers, retailers and other stakeholders the opportunity to exchange information and debate the future of coins.

Location

MDC’s 31st collaboration event, Conference 2020, will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, hosted by the South African Mint.

Program

Over three days, the conference will focus on three interconnected themes, starting with Global Challenges, moving to New Horizons and then identifying Future Opportunities.

The program features a dynamic mix of plenary, twin-track and break-out sessions, enabling participants to cover the widest range of topics and issues, all focused on how to ensure the future success of Mint products and the industry.

Networking

Conference 2020 is also about networking – catching up with colleagues and connecting with new industry contacts, finding new suppliers or technologies, forging new partnerships, and working collaboratively to find new solutions.

Social

Conference delegates will also be able to enjoy the culture and sights of Cape Town thrugh a variety of social events during the conference.

Six unique experiences have been brought together in the social program for partners of Delegates attending the Cape Town conference. Places are strictly limited to a maximum of 15 people in each tour.

Mint Industry Awards

Two prestigious Mint industry awards are run by the MDC and presented at each bi-annual Conference – the Coin Awards and the Packaging Awards.

The Coin Awards recognise the best coins worldwide, and the Packaging Awards recognise achievements in the creativity, production and presentation of coin packaging.

Janine Murphy Foundation Scholarship

The 2020 recipient of the Janine Murphy Foundation Scholarship will also be announced at Conference 2020.

The scholarship supports one apprentice or equivalent marketing staff member from a mint to enhance his/her skills by pursuing study or research in another country, particularly in collaboration with another official mint.
