The Mint Directors Association (MDA) was established in June 2022 and formally incorporated in October 2023. The broader industry now exchanges information and ideas as the International Mint Directors Network (IMDN), which was previously the Mint Directors Conference (MDC).
The original MDC was founded in 1962 by the directors of 10 Western European mints: Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
The MDA is a new entity, representing 18 Member Mints and 3 Associate Members:
MDA, with a public sector interest, promotes awareness of the mint industry’s role, contribution and significance. It also works collaboratively with Member Mints on the use of coinage within their nations to ensure optimised returns to their governments and their communities.
Membership of the MDA is by subscription and available to all national mints, suppliers, distributors, dealers, private Mints and other organizations that have an interest in the minting industry.
There are two categories of membership: (1) Member Mint which is available to organisations that mint circulating coins for one or more countries; and (2) Associate Member which is available to all other industry participants.
The annual membership fee is USD$4,000.
If you have an interest in joining the MDA, please contact Mark Cartwright (Executive Director) mark.cartwright@mintindustry.com
MDC has become the IMDN, continuing to provide a forum for national mints to exchange information and ideas.
Membership of the IMDN is free and available to all national mints.
Eligibility: Entities that produce legal tender coins for general circulation in their own countries.
The Mint Directors Conference will now refer to the mint industry’s bi-annual conference.
